Your birth number, also called Mulank or Moolank, is the single-digit total of your birth day. It uses the day of the month, not your age or the digits of your entire date of birth.
For 14 August 1990, use only 14: 1 + 4 = 5. Someone born on the 5th or 23rd has the same reduced birth number. The shared result does not mean they have identical personalities.

Why results can differ
“Birthday number” does not have one universal definition. Some Western numerology sources keep the original day, such as 14 or 29, and interpret each day from 1 to 31. A reduced birth number gives a different level of detail: 14 becomes 5, and 29 becomes 2.
Some reduction conventions preserve 11 and 22 as master numbers. Under that rule, 11 stays 11, 22 stays 22, and 29 reduces to 11. Our main result follows the single-digit Mulank convention: those days give 2, 4 and 2. The result explains the alternative when it applies.
A day-only calculation cannot produce master number 33: there is no 33rd day, and adding the digits of a day from 1–31 cannot reach 33. Master number 33 can appear in a full-date life path calculation.
Useful answers
Mulank, also spelled Moolank, is the day of the month you were born reduced to one digit from 1 to 9. This calculator uses that day-only convention. For example, the 25th gives 2 + 5 = 7.
Take your birth day from 1 to 31. Add its digits and repeat until one digit remains. A day of 7 stays 7; 28 becomes 10, then 1. Do not add the month or year.
Using the Mulank rule, 11 becomes 2, 22 becomes 4, and 29 becomes 11 then 2. Some Western conventions retain 11 or 22 as master numbers. This page shows that alternative separately and always labels the Mulank result as a single digit.
No. Terminology varies: some Western numerology sources use the original birth day from 1 to 31 as the birthday number. Others reduce it or retain master numbers. We show the original day alongside the reduced birth number so the convention is explicit.
Mulank uses only the day of birth. Bhagyank uses the full birth date, including month and year. Life path calculations also use the full date, though master-number and reduction rules can differ. Use our Life Path Number Calculator for that separate calculation.
No. Only the day on your birth record is needed. For someone born on 14 August 1990, enter 14. Their birth number is 5 regardless of the month and year.
Use day 29: 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2. Celebrating your birthday on another date in non-leap years does not change the original day used in this calculation.
Numerology meanings are traditional interpretations, not scientifically validated personality tests or predictions. A shared birth number does not establish compatibility, and no birth number guarantees success or failure.
The tool calculates in your browser without an account. It does not save the day you select or send it to a calculation server. If you choose copy, download or print, the result includes the selected day. The site’s general privacy policy also applies.
This calculator accepts a whole birth day from 1 to 31 and repeatedly adds its digits until the result is 1–9. It does not need a full date or check whether a particular month has that day. Use your recorded day of birth; no time-zone conversion is needed.
The arithmetic is reproducible. Numerology interpretations are traditional beliefs and have not been scientifically validated as a way to predict personality, relationships or future events. No number is better or worse than another.
