JEE Main Registration Documents: Private Checklist
Prepare these details before opening the JEE Main 2027 form. Exact upload sizes and certificates depend on the official application instructions.
Most common form mistakes
- Using a different name spelling or date of birth than the identity document.
- Entering the wrong Class 12 passing year or category.
- Choosing an incorrect examination paper or exam-city preference.
- Assuming a bank debit proves NTA form submission was successful.
- Waiting until 11:50 PM on the deadline to solve upload, login or payment issues.
JEE Main 2027 Registration Fee and Late Fee
Fees vary by category, paper combination and whether the exam centre is in India or abroad. For a single Paper 1 with an examination centre in India, the 2027 fee schedule has been reported as follows. Please confirm the exact amount in the NTA form and official bulletin.
| Candidate group | Reported Paper 1 India fee |
|---|---|
| General male | ₹1,000 |
| General-EWS / OBC-NCL male | ₹900 |
| Female, General / EWS / OBC-NCL | ₹800 |
| SC / ST / PwD / third gender | ₹500 |
Late registration: the notified 23–26 November 2026 Session 1 window adds ₹500 to the applicable regular exam fee. Multiple-paper and outside-India charges can differ; these figures are not universal.
JEE Main 2027 Eligibility Criteria, Age Limit and Attempts
As reported in the JEE Main 2027 eligibility criteria, candidates who passed Class 12 or equivalent in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing in 2027, may apply subject to the complete NTA bulletin. Those who passed the qualifying examination in 2024 or earlier are generally outside the stated qualifying-year window. A general upper-age limit is not imposed for appearing in JEE Main.
Is 75% in Class 12 compulsory for JEE Main registration?
Eligibility to sit the exam is not the same as eligibility for admission. The board-mark or top-20-percentile rules used for admissions to certain NITs, IIITs, CFTIs or IIT programmes are separate from JEE Main form eligibility. Review the relevant JoSAA business rules and IIT / JEE Advanced brochure before deciding which colleges you can join.
How many attempts does JEE Main offer?
JEE Main generally has January and April sessions in a year. Qualifying-year eligibility governs the years you can appear. Two sessions in one year are not the same as only two lifetime attempts. Read 2027 rules for repeat candidates and registration across sessions.
What subjects are required?
Course-specific qualifying subject requirements differ for B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning admissions. Select the relevant paper and check the specific institution's qualifying-exam subject and aggregate requirements, not just the JEE score.
JEE Main 2027 Exam Pattern, Total Marks and Negative Marking
JEE Main offers Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B.Planning). The Paper 1 reported 2027 format is 75 questions, 300 marks, three hours across Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
| Paper 1 subject | MCQ | Numerical | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Physics | 20 | 5 | 25 | 100 |
| Chemistry | 20 | 5 | 25 | 100 |
| Mathematics | 20 | 5 | 25 | 100 |
| Total | 60 | 15 | 75 | 300 |
Paper 1 marking: +4 for a correct answer, −1 for an incorrect answer and 0 for an unanswered question, including the numerical section under the reported 2027 scheme. Check the official 2027 bulletin for complete rules and any changes.
48 correct, 12 wrong and 15 unattempted → (48 × 4) − 12 = 180 out of 300. This equals 60% of maximum raw marks, not an NTA 60 percentile.
What about JEE Main Paper 2?
Paper 2A includes Mathematics, Aptitude and a drawing component for B.Arch; Paper 2B includes Mathematics, Aptitude and planning-related questions for B.Planning. These have different question distributions and can have a maximum of 400 marks. Check your paper-specific official 2027 structure.
JEE Main 2027 Syllabus PDF for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
NTA has published the JEE Main 2027 official syllabus at its dedicated 2027 syllabus page. Download the latest version, rather than assuming a deleted topic or an old coaching chapter list is still valid.
Mechanics, heat, electricity, magnetism, optics and modern physics units as listed by NTA.
Physical, inorganic and organic chemistry concepts, calculations and reactions within the prescribed units.
Algebra, calculus, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, vectors and statistics/probability within the official list.
Paper 2A and 2B candidates should also check the officially prescribed Aptitude, Drawing and Planning syllabus instead of relying only on Paper 1 subjects.
JEE Main 2027 Exam City, Admit Card and Exam-Day Instructions
The advance exam-city intimation slip is not the JEE Main admit card. It tells candidates the assigned city, while the admit card provides their official exam date, centre address, shift, reporting time and instructions.
- Visit the official JEE Main Candidate Activity portal.
- Choose the relevant session's city intimation or admit card notice after NTA activates it.
- Use only the official candidate credentials and download the document.
- Check spelling, photograph, paper, allotted shift and the examination centre.
- Follow the identity proof and permitted-item rules on the actual admit card.
As of 25 October 2026, the January 2027 admit card and city slip have not yet been issued. The published schedule lists admit cards starting around 13 January 2027; the final release is controlled by NTA.
JEE Main 2027 Answer Key, Result, Cutoff and Percentile
NTA publishes provisional answer keys and candidates' response records after examinations under its challenge procedure. Results, final answer keys and NTA scores follow later official notifications. No 2027 result or cutoff is live at the time of this page's 25 October 2026 update.
Raw marks vs NTA percentile
A raw marks percentage is obtained by dividing marks scored by maximum marks. An NTA Score (percentile) describes relative performance against the relevant session or shift's score distribution. You cannot accurately calculate JEE percentile, rank or AIR from a raw score alone without the necessary distribution.
Qualifying cutoff vs admission closing rank
Thresholds used to determine JEE Advanced eligibility are not the same as JoSAA's NIT/IIIT branch opening and closing ranks. Institute, programme, category, quota, seat supply and counselling decisions all matter. Use official JoSAA results for admission data rather than treating an estimated percentile as a seat guarantee.
JEE Main vs JEE Advanced, IITs, NITs and IIITs
JEE Main is administered by the National Testing Agency and is used in admissions to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and other participating institutes, as applicable. Performance in JEE Main Paper 1 is also used to shortlist eligible candidates for JEE Advanced.
JEE Advanced is a separate examination under the organising IIT's framework, with its own eligibility, attempt and admission rules. Qualifying for JEE Main does not automatically mean you are eligible for IIT admission. Read JEE Advanced and JoSAA official rules for the relevant year.
JEE Main 2027 Preparation Strategy for January and April
The registration period is the time to run two parallel checklists: finish the form accurately and keep a consistent study routine. Use the official 2027 syllabus as your chapter checklist.
- Mark each Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics topic as confident, needs practice or not started.
- Prioritise high-impact gaps based on actual mock mistakes rather than social-media predictions.
- Review NCERT foundations and practise the current numerical and multiple-choice question formats.
- Take realistic three-hour timed mock tests; track accuracy, time spent and negative marks.
- Maintain a correction notebook covering conceptual gaps, calculation errors and poor question selection.
- In the final weeks, confirm NTA exam notices, travel, identification and healthy sleep.
