There have been genuine CBSE notices in September and October 2026 about the 2026–27 List of Candidates (LOC) and examination registration. Those notices do not themselves confirm a Class 10 date sheet for 2027. Avoid interpreting an LOC deadline as a board-exam date.

When Will the CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2027 Start?

The board has not confirmed an exact starting date for the 2027 examination. Its published scheme for two Class 10 board examinations describes the main/first examination as beginning around mid-February, followed by a second examination in May. These are broad planning periods from the CBSE policy, not the newly issued date sheet for 2027.

Because examinations and schedules can be revised, prepare according to the current syllabus rather than assuming a particular date for Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English or Hindi. Once CBSE releases the timetable, confirm the subject codes, dates and shifts directly from the official PDF.

Do not confuse expected dates with confirmed dates. Headlines suggesting that a particular February or March day is already the Class 10 exam date for 2027 should be checked against an actual CBSE notice before being shared.

Will CBSE Conduct Two Class 10 Board Exams in 2027?

CBSE introduced a two-board-examination system for Class X beginning with the 2026 examinations. The board's official policy notification dated 25 June 2025 explains the framework, and a February 2026 clarification addresses eligibility.

Is the first exam compulsory?

Under the published policy, appearing in the first/main examination is mandatory for students generally. The scheme contains defined special-category arrangements, including provisions for certain sports students and winter-bound schools. Students should review the relevant circular and their school's instructions rather than assuming the second examination can simply replace the first.

Who may take the second exam?

For candidates who satisfy the published requirements, the second examination can provide an improvement opportunity in up to three specified main subjects or a route for eligible compartment candidates. The first and second examinations cover the full annual syllabus. Internal assessment is conducted once under the scheme.

The 2026 clarification also explains that students absent in three or more subjects in the first examination are generally not eligible to use the second examination as a substitute and may be placed in an Essential Repeat category. Consult any updated 2027 notification for the rules applicable to your specific circumstances.

Two examinations do not mean two compulsory attempts for every student. The first exam is the main examination. The second is a defined opportunity subject to CBSE eligibility, category, registration and official scheduling rules.

When Did CBSE Release the Previous Year's Date Sheet?

Past announcements can help students understand the release process, but they cannot establish the 2027 schedule. For the 2026 board examinations, CBSE issued a tentative date-sheet notice dated 24 September 2025, followed by a date-sheet circular listed on 30 October 2025. Some papers were subsequently rescheduled.

24 September 2025

CBSE published a tentative date-sheet notice for the Class X and XII 2026 examinations, using registration information to aid planning.

30 October 2025

The board listed a Date Sheet for Class X and XII for the 2026 board examinations under its examination circulars.

December 2025

CBSE issued revised scheduling information, illustrating why students must check the latest version of a date sheet.

17 February 2026

The 2026 main board examinations began according to CBSE's published 2026 examination plan. This was the 2026 cycle, not an announced date for 2027.

The September and October dates above are historical facts for the 2026 exam cycle; they should not be labelled as the expected or confirmed 2027 date-sheet release day. Sources: CBSE tentative 2026 date-sheet notice and official examination circular archive.

CBSE Class 10 Exam 2027 Subject-Wise Time Table

The official 2027 subject-wise time table is not available yet. The table below identifies commonly registered Class X subjects and the current status of their 2027 exam dates. It is deliberately not a predicted timetable.

ScienceNot announcedFollow the official subject date
Social ScienceNot announcedAwait date-sheet PDF
English Language & Literature / CommunicativeNot announcedCheck your registered course

Once released, the official CBSE Class 10 date sheet should identify paper dates, subject names, subject codes and timing instructions. A student's full schedule depends on the combination of subjects registered by their school. Avoid copying a generic six-subject table without verifying your actual course and subject code.

Official CBSE Class 10 Syllabus and Sample Papers 2026–27

There is no need to wait for the date sheet to start preparing. The 2026–27 CBSE Academic curriculum and the official Class X sample question papers and marking schemes for the 2026–27 session are available. These are more dependable preparation materials than unofficial predictions of question papers or dates.

The sample-paper page includes resources for Science, Mathematics (Basic and Standard), Social Science, English courses, Hindi courses and other subjects. Students should use the sample paper and marking scheme matching the exact subject in their registration and consult the syllabus for the applicable assessment structure.

What to look for in a marking scheme

  • Marks assigned to different questions and question types.
  • What a complete and correctly presented solution includes.
  • Important keywords, concepts and steps expected in written answers.
  • Areas where time management and full-length practice are most useful.

How to Prepare for CBSE Class 10 Boards 2027 Before the Date Sheet

A practical preparation plan should follow the actual CBSE 2026–27 syllabus, regular school assessments and each student's current progress. The suggested schedule below is a flexible revision framework, not an official CBSE timetable or a promise of marks.

Preparation stageSuggested focusWhat to check
Stage 1 · CoverageFinish the syllabus and resolve weak chaptersUse official textbook and curriculum objectives
Stage 2 · PracticeSolve chapter questions and official SQPsCheck marking schemes and common errors
Stage 3 · Timed testsAttempt full-length papers in exam-like conditionsTrack accuracy, speed and presentation
Stage 4 · Final revisionReview formulas, maps, concepts and key answer formatsFollow the confirmed exam order once issued

Subject-wise preparation priorities

  • Mathematics: work through concepts and exercises, then practise full solutions with the steps required by marking schemes.
  • Science: revise key principles, diagrams, applications and calculations across the prescribed course.
  • Social Science: connect concepts and events, revise maps where relevant and practise structured written answers.
  • English and languages: balance reading comprehension, writing formats, grammar and literature revision.
  • Skill and optional subjects: consult the exact official syllabus, sample paper and school instructions instead of relying on another subject's assessment pattern.

Once the official date sheet arrives, put the actual examination order into the study calendar. Prioritise earlier exams while keeping revision slots for later ones. Take regular breaks and leave room for school instructions and changes to the schedule.

What Students and Parents Should Check After the Date Sheet Is Released

The first timetable PDF is an important milestone, but students should also verify registration information and later examination instructions. A small discrepancy in subject code or assessment category can be more consequential than a rumour about an exam date.

  1. Confirm the official PDF clearly refers to Class X and 2027, not the prior year's date sheet.
  2. Verify the examination phase: first/main or second, where applicable.
  3. Match all subject names and registered subject codes with school records and later admit-card details.
  4. Record paper dates, reporting-time instructions and permitted materials from official communications.
  5. Check school messages for internal assessment, practical/project requirements and administrative deadlines.
  6. Revisit CBSE's website before exam days in case a revised date sheet or important advisory is issued.

Important distinction: CBSE's Class 10 board examinations are different from state-board schedules, including the Tamil Nadu SSLC timetable. Always check that an article or PDF refers to CBSE, the correct class and the correct academic year.
